I’ll be there for my team: Shah Rukh Khan

After returning from an awards function in Macau, actor Shah Rukh Khan will head straight to the studios to resume shooting for Yash Chopra's directorial comeback. The untitled Diwali release, which sees Chopra behind the camera after a gap of seven years, went on the floors on January 9.

"I've just started working with Katrina (actor Katrina Kaif). She puts in a lot of effort to make her character look and sound believable," says Shah Rukh, minutes after finishing his anchoring gig at Colors' Screen Awards that took place in Mumbai recently. "I'm working with Yashji after a long time and it's been a breeze."

The upcoming schedule of the film is likely to start in London. Another schedule is due in April, when the love story's second leading lady, Anushka Sharma, will join the cast and crew.

Meanwhile, back home, an auction for cricket players for the Indian Premier League's fifth edition is likely to be held on February 4. The tournament flags off on April 4 in Chennai.

Given his tight shooting schedules, will SRK make it to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) matches this time? "I don't know my exact schedule yet. So, I don't know where I'll be on the day of the auctions," he says, adding, "But regardless of what I'm doing, I will be there for my team with my friends and family, cheering the way I have been for the last four seasons. Our boys have been practicing hard and the team has shaped up well. The credit goes to the coach and the players who've been putting in a lot of time and energy."
http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/HTEditImages/Images/shah-rukh-khan-big.jpg
Kolkata Knight Riders had lost a couple of players to Kochi Tuskers Kerala, a new team that entered the fourth season of the tournament. Now that it has been dissolved, a couple of KKR's old players will be available at the auctions. "It would be nice to see some of our old faces play for us again," says Shah Rukh, adding, "But even if we don't manage to get any of them back, we're looking fine. Our last season put a smile on our faces. This time, we just intend to make that smile bigger."

SRK, Katrina show off their chemistry
Shah Rukh Khan faces the camera with Katrina Kaif, who happens to be close to his rival, actor Salman Khan, for the first time for Yash Chopra's film. While details, including the film's storyline and music, are being kept under wraps, SRK gave a glimpse of his on-screen chemistry with Katrina at a recent award show. When asked if the duo had become friends, he says, "We haven't become best friends but she's a nice girl to work with. And we never dig into the past (the popular Salman-SRK squabble)."

Ask Katrina about working with SRK and Salman in the same calendar year, and she says, "I don't take work from one set to the other. Shah Rukh and Salman are my co-stars and I respect them equally and immensely."

SRK's desperate to read books

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is an avid reader, but amid the promotions of his last release, "RA.One" and upcoming film " Don 2: The King Is Back", he is missing the joy of catching up on books.

"Desperately seeking a good book to read. Kindle dried up...bookstores out of bounds...heading to Nagpur would have been nice if I had a book," Shah Rukh posted on Twitter.

The actor and his "Don 2" team are beginning their multi-city promotion tour for the film with Nagpur. He also recieved many suggestions for latest books, and asked his Nagpur fans to give him books during his stay.

"Thanks guys and girls keep the suggestions coming...need to immerse myself in books. Been a long time since I spent some time with myself. Enroute to Nagpur...the tour begins for the chase continues film. I really love meeting you all in the garb of film promotions. DON is ON...

"So if you are in Nagpur and have the time I would love it if you get me books...remember to write ur Twitter handle please on the book," added Shah Rukh.

Rishi uncle's songs have youth connect: Imran Khan

Actor Rishi Kapoor's songs and films are still loved by people of all age groups and that's because of their "spunk", says Imran Khan, the title of whose next film " Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu" is inspired by one of the veteran star's hit song.

"There is certain zing in the phrase 'Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu', which connects it instantly to the youth. Rishi uncle's songs are very lively and there is certain spunk in them. I think that's the reason why there is an instant youth connect," Imran said in a press statement.

"Not only his songs, but also his personality is youthful and full of verve even today," he added.

"Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", a Karan Johar production, also features Kareena Kapoor. It is a romantic comedy, and will hit the screens around Valentine's Day next year.

When Shahrukh Khan's wife got scared of his real stunt

Gauri Khan scared to see Shahrukh Khan’s jump!

He tests his own unflagging spirit and in spite of his back pain and serious injuries in the past, Shahrukh Khan performed a breathtaking stunt that had his wife Gauri Khan scared.

It happened at the shoot of Don 2 in Berlin, Germany. Farhan Akhtar asked Shahrukh to shoot for a sequence which required the star to jump off from a height of 300 feet from the top of the Park Inn Hotel in Berlin. When Shahrukh Khan heard this he couldn’t say yes immediately! Indeed, he was nervous.

As a source is quoted as saying about the incident, “When Farhan asked Shahrukh to jump, his first impulse was to say no. Then Shahrukh asked Farhan to take the plunge first, hoping that Farhan would chicken out. To Shahrukh's surprise, Farhan jumped, leaving Shahrukh with no choice but to do the same.”

A shiver ran down Shahrukh’s spine after seeing Farhan performing the stunt. Who can forget Farhan even ran with the bulls in his film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. So as King Khan had promised, he did the scene, and his fans would also agree that he is a braveheart and a complete professional.

But this certainly didn’t go down well with Gauri Khan; she was stunned to know about the stunt, and same was the case with Farhan Akhtar’s hairstylist wife Adhuna Akhtar. It was learnt that both the wives frowned upon their husbands’ daring acts.

Shahrukh even confirmed the news; yes he was scared as the shot needed him to be horizontally parallel to the ground.

Shahrukh Khan to open IFFI at Goa on Wednesday

Bollywood heartthrob Shahrukh Khan will open The 42nd International Film Festival of India in Goa on Wednesday with actress Raima Sen, actor Prem Chopra and directors Sudhir Mishra and Nikhil Advani in attendance. Portugal's World War II drama, The Consul of Bordeaux by Francisco Manso and Joao Correa, will set the Festival by the River Mandovi sailing. The story of a man who saved the lives of 30,000 people, including 10, 000 Jews, from Hitler's savagery forms the plot of this compelling movie.
The Festival, to run till December 2, will close with another heroic saga, that of the Burmese political activist, Aung Saang Sui Kyi, in Luc Besson's The Lady, which recently premiered at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. Both Besson and the film's lead star, Michelle Yeoh, will walk the Red Carpet on the closing night.

Between the opening and the closing, hundred-odd movies will be screened including 14 in competition. Salim Ahamed's national-award-winning Malayalam work, Adaminte Makan Abu will be one of the competing entries, with the others coming in from Iran, Japan, Australia, Poland, Germany, Spain and Iceland among others.

Judging these will be a five-member jury headed by the renowned Indian auteur-director, Adoor Gopalakrishnan. One of the most critically acclaimed directors after Satyajit Ray, Gopalakrishnan's cinema has been celebrated the world over for its touching sensitivity and profound social concerns. Often examining the individual minutely, he lays bare his pain and pleasure to help us understand the community, invariably Kerala's, the region he belongs to and is most comfortable with.

A pioneer of the Indian New Wave in the early 1970s, Gopalakrishnan is known for his leisurely pace, having made only 11 features and a few documentaries in close to 40 years, but these films are extraordinarily reflective and have travelled to most movie festivals across continents fetching him innumerable awards and attracting overwhelming popular appreciation.

The other jurors are: Dan Wolman (filmmaker from Israel), Lee Yong Kwan (Director of the Busan International Film Festival), Laurance Kardish (Director of MOMA, USA) and Tahmineh Milani (move director from Iran).

A Lifetime Achievement Award for French helmer Bertrand Tavernier, master classes and retrospectives of Luc Besson and Phil Noyce will be some of the Festival's other highlights.

Besides these, a panorama of the latest Indian movies in several languages will be screened.

RA.One: Third Day To Cross 15 Cr

After creating a massive buzz on its opening and second days, Shah Rukh Khan's RA.One was greeted with open arms on its third day, and tradewallahs believe the film will create history with its growing numbers. Tradewallahs believes that the film is expected to cross Rs 15 crore on its third day.
In Mumbai, Balkrishan Shroff of Shringar Films says, "RA.One had a fabulous second-day run in Mumbai and all over India as well. Its third day will also clock strong numbers at the end of the day. On day three too, the film opened on a good note. With the weekend coming up, expectations are running high."
In the Delhi-UP territory, G D Mehta of Bobby Arts International says the 3D version of the film has been highly appreciated by the audience. "People love Shah Rukh Khan and the special effects in the film. Its third day will wrap up at Rs 3.25 crore in the Delhi-UP circuit and the film might cross Rs 15 crore in the domestic market."
In East Punjab, Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies says RA.One had a "decent" third day opening today but there was a dip in numbers. "Today's collections will amount to Rs 30-40 lakh in our region. But the numbers will rise again tomorrow and sustain during the weekend."
In Mysore, B H Basha of Bahar Enterprises remarks that the film had a fabulous second-day but collections dropped today. "The ticket counters are packed with Shah Rukh Khan fans. The film will collect Rs 55-60 lakh today in the Mysore circuit."
RA.One did tremendous business in its first three days in Rajasthan, where Vasudev Chachan of Sunny Films says, "Today. RA.One earned around Rs 60 lakh at the box office. There is a slight fall in its numbers but they will pick up tomorrow."
In Nizam, Ravi Machchar Sahyog Films adds, "The collections of RA.One in 3D are colossal. Enjoying a five-day weekend, the film will experience huge success at the ticket counter. Today, the film collected Rs 1.25 crore in Nizam and all-India numbers should be cross Rs 15 crore."

Salman, Priyanka make Shah Rukh angry

Probably the mere mention of arch rival Salman Khan and the box office collection figures of his recent big hit " Bodyguard", and actress Priyanka Chopra, who he is reportedly having an affair with.

At the music launch of Ra.One in Mumbai, on Monday, when a media-person asked Shah Rukh what calculations he has made for his magnum opus (scheduled to release this Diwali) considering the fact that Salman has been repeatedly competing with his own films and box office collections, Shah Rukh while hiding his emotions replied, "Heart doesn't make calculations. We have made the movie from the heart."

But when he was asked about the absence of Priyanka Chopra at the huge event, a visibly annoyed Shahrukh ordered the journalist to sit down while saying, "There's Sanjay Dutt too in the film and even he hasn't come. I am glad that Sanjay and Priyanka (both the actors have done a cameo in Ra.One) didn't come nahin toh unhe tumhare sawaalon se sharminda hona padta.""

Was SRK over-reacting? Many felt so. This is rather strange because the media savvy star, who was a lesson for many in how to do one's PR, seems to be the victim of his own image.

My son feels I'm not cool enough: Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan enjoys huge fan following at home and abroad and is seen as a very cool actor, but his 14-year-old son Aryan feels that the superstar is not cool enough.

"My film 'RA.One' talks about the relationship between every father and son. So the film has a bit of my relationship with my son. Like he feels that I'm not cool enough and he feels that I don't have great abs and I'm not a stud enough. The child in this film also feels similar things," SRK told reporters here at an event to launch the music of the film. The 45-year-old also feels that " RA.One" will get sons closer to their fathers. "I think it's a film that will appeal to all sons and fathers and I think it will teach them to love their fathers because I think fathers are very nice. They are good, if not better than mothers," he said. "RA.One", a sci fi film, has been directed by Anubhav Sinha and stars Shah Rukh as a superhero.

B-Town's 3D explosion

More and more Bollywood movies going the 3-Dimensional way

A movie still from Don - The Chase Begins Again
If recent developments are any indication, it looks like the film industry is going all out to add the third dimension in the forthcoming ventures. One might attribute it to the hist status of Vikram Bhatt's Haunted, that is inspiring more filmmakers to make their movies in 3D. The latest is that Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, producer and director of Don - The Chase Begins Again, are keen to take their sequel with Shah Rukh Khan to the new level. And apart from dubbing in Tamil and Telugu, Don 2 will also be released in 3D in the two south-Indian languages, besides Hindi, on December 23. "Looking at the demand for the brand Don, we decided on the 3D format. We first did a few 3D conversion tests on the earlier Don and the outcome was very good," enthuses Ritesh, adding that while shooting the sequel, the 3D version was always at the back of Farhan's mind.

The producer further continues, "Since Farhan felt that the new format would make the Don experience even more memorable and exciting, we decided to go ahead with the 3D format. I was in Los Angeles recently and saw some 3D conversion tests and was totally blown by the effect."

Moving on after Haunted, Bhatt is making not one, but two movies in 3D; Raaz 3 and Dangerous Ishq. Shirish Kunder has completed a schedule of Joker, his 3D film with Akshay Kumar and Sohail Khan will start his Sher Khan with Salman Khan next year.

Coming up...

SRK: Superhero or Superstar?

What is the difference between a superhero and a superstar? Both are idolized by millions and beloved by hordes of fans. Both make us believe in the unimaginable. So are they really that far apart? Bollywood badshaah Shahrukh Khan seems to think so, and he should know as a superstar playing a superhero in his upcoming film Ra.One.
"A superhero's larger purpose is always very selfless and a superstar's larger purpose is to stick to films," SRK explained. "I'm not selfless. My highest purpose in life is to make a great film." That's quite a bit of honesty coming from an actor, who are often considered modern-day heroes.
Any mention of Ra.One get SRK talking about his pet project. His character in the film, G.One, is said to be made up of "solid electricity". It seems the new technological era has lent itself well to a new kind of superhero. "In olden times, superheroes could come from planets because they were out of understanding. Now, the quantum part is more difficult to understand than the macro part of it." Ra.One will take the superhero mythology in a new direction, hoping to separate itself from the plethora of popular comic book heroes. "We felt that if we took the modern, new creation [Internet] of man and say a superhero and super villain can be created out of it, that would be really unique."
Praise for the film has already been pouring in, even though it is set to release on Diwali, which is months away yet. "The other day, somebody told me my car shot is like Krrish and GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra. It didn't happen, so we did it digitally. If I had known we'll go digital, I'd have done it even bigger."
But being righteous and heroic isn't the only thing on Shahrukh Khan's plate. Releasing soon after Ra.One will be the Farhan Akhtar directorial sequel Don 2, which releases in December. "As an actor, it's good fun – to be so evil and be so good. It's very exciting. I have this cool look, long hair and beard in [Don 2]."
Whether good, bad, or somewhere in-between, we love to see Shahrukh Khan on the silver screen!

"It has been a dream to be somehow involved in videogame designing" - SRK

Ra.One continues to surprise the Indian audience with new innovations on a continued basis. Red Chillies Entertainment has declared a tie-up with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) to build a full cycle game on PlayStation platform. The video game version of the movie will be called Ra. One - The Game and will be available on PS2 and PS3 (through PSN download).

This is a newer direction for Bollywood to create a win-win strategy of both promoting the film as well as create a brand extension strategy for Ra.One. The film, with its superhero touches, is appropriate to seamlessly use the PlayStation platform and connect with the Indian youth.

Speaking on the game, Shah Rukh Khan said, "It has been a dream since childhood to be somehow involved in videogame designing or making them as all kids dream of. So now many years down the line the dream is fulfilled! Double pleasure gaming and movies....Ra.One on PS 2 & PS3...feeling like a kid all over. Hope everyone enjoys the game and also the movie. The game is awesome fun...G.One looks cool...so does Ra.One and Kareena in an avatar which everyone will enjoy....too thrilled. Finally can play a game...be a gamer and the game itself...YAY!!!"
Red Chillies Entertainment recognizes the importance of the gaming route to connect with the Indian audience and has been involved in the pre-production stage. To maintain closeness of the game storyline with that of the film, it has been actually written by Red Chillies team and Shah Rukh Khan in particular.

Ra.One- The Game will be published by SCEE and will be released in Sep'11 before the film release. SCEE is committed to a certain high decibel launch of the game and will establish creatively the key characters of the film through the game itself. This is an innovative business model of almost using the game launch (in addition to the music launch) to create a high level of excitement and expectation for Ra.One as the film.
Closeness of the characters, the powers and key characteristics can well be understood from the sneak preview of the characterization of SRK as G.One in the film and in the game. Following the tie-up declaration by SCEE, this is the first look at the game character of Shah Rukh Khan with a comparison against the film characterization.

Elaborateness of a PlayStation game has been a key decision factor behind Red Chillies Entertainment looking at the tie-up. Ra.One- The Game has seen a development cycle of about a year and will be a very welcome contrast to the low budget, transactional mini games that appear on the internet or the mobile platforms to promote various films.

Stars perform even though the city is besieged by rioting

http://raonemoviereview.blogspot.com/

While Bollywood has been expressing solidarity with London during the ongoing riots, a bunch of big names from tinsel town flew to the city to be part of a corporate event on Tuesday. Shah Rukh Khan was among those invited for the event, which took place at the O2 Arena.
Besides SRK, singer Akon and former tennis player Boris Becker too attended as special guests. From Bollywood, names like Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor added more starpower to the evening, while AR Rahman, who is currently in London, also made a brief appearance. Akon's DJ Benny-Demus, who is also good friends with SRK, joined them on stage for the performance.
A source tells us that the event was successful despite fear about fresh riots breaking out. We hear that Ranbir, who has been in London for a few days, couldn't step out much, while SRK landed just a day prior to the event.
Says our source, "Everyone was obviously worried, but the event was successfully concluded. A day before the show, a few artists were tweeting about it and trying to gauge how bad the situation was, but things were okay. Shah Rukh even danced on stage with Akon and his lively presence peps up every event he is a part of."

‘Ra.One’ launch game plan

It's well known that Shah Rukh Khan will launch the 'Ra.One' game a month before the film releases in October, 2011. However, it has been recently learnt that one chapter of the game focuses on Kareena Kapoor, who's also doing extensive Lara Croft kind of stunt in it. Though, it's another thing that she has only a couple of hand-to-hand combat scenes in the movie. The game programmers are also working on incorporating her 'Chhamak Chhalo' song in it because this number with Akon has generated abundant hype even without any visual being out.

Probably, it has another plus for a massive opening for the film. However, the makers may not have intended their film to be publicized this way. Recently, a leading international website alleged that Priyanka Chopra is playing a transvestite in the film in which she has a cameo. Industry insiders feel, although Priyanka has experimented with a variety of roles in her career so far, choosing to play a transvestite might be taking things a little too far. Director Anubhav Sinha isn't pleased at all with this unexpected turn of things. He too alleges that it's a conspiracy to create some negativity around the film. As for who may have spearheaded the gossip, we can only keep guessing for now.

SRK, Kareena out of Meydan concert

Bollywood's King Khan has pulled out of the grand finale of Shoppiesta scheduled at Meydan later this month.

Shah Rukh Khan will not be performing at the 'We R. One', according to a '7Days' report.

Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal will also not participate.

According to the organisers the reason for the cancellations was because the stars were unavailable on the required dates.

This website had reported how Eid celebrations in Dubai this year promised to be a memorable one, with a bevy of international stars making their way to our shores.

The shoppiesta consumer fair was billed arguably as the largest party, with American rapper and actor Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent also on the cards.

Arab fans are to be wowed by Eid regular, Nancy Ajram.

Things will kick off with an Arabic night on August 31 featuring Ajram alongside Melheim Zein; the following evening will see Filipino pop group South Border.

On September 2, Iran's famous talent Googoosh will take to the stage, while Indian musicans Shankar Mahadevan and Hariharan will perform on September 3.

The event was to come to a grand finale the following night with the Bollywood brigade, Khan, Chopra and Kapoor, alongwith 50 Cent.

Another musical spectacle scheduled for Eid features cross border musicians, with Pakistan's Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who will croon alongside Shafqat Ali Khan. And adding to the glam quotient will be Indian singer, Richa Sharma of "Sajda" fame from "My Name is Khan".

Called Eid-E-Milan, the September 9 event, is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre and has been organised by Cyclops Communication. Tickets start at Dh140 and go up to Dh1,400. Show starts at 9pm.

Lastly, also expected in town during those very days is the award winning Indian singer, Sonu Niigam, who is most certainly going to demand a full house. More details for this event have yet to emerge...

SRK News- What about people's reaction to RA. One

When SRK asked about RA. One and its box office results? he replied "Box office is not in my control. You can make the biggest or worst film without knowing the result.I believe you should only say good things about life in films. And belief isn’t knowledge-based.It’s instinctive; based on reflexes. And you can’t doubt your reflexes. That’s how I have lived my life as an actor and filmmaker. It goes wrong more often than not.But as long as my films break even, or even if they lose some money, it’s fine, because things will be fine. I know for a fact that whatever films I do for my production house will bring in the money, and Mashallah, they do. So, if I have a few rider films (films done for money alone) with me as an actor, then I can bring in money for the kind of films that, on the face of it, may not bring in the moolah. I don’t earn a single penny from my company as a producer. I have built this company to be self-sustained. There might be a year when my big films don’t do well, so I won’t have money to produce smaller films. But if a big one like Om Shanti Om does well, I can produce Billu (2009), which in a way did well for us in terms of money too. As long as I have that freedom, I will continue this way. But if I don’t have it, I’ll stick to safer films. Because I have 600 people working in my firm, we have to pay for those jobs too."
